Thousands of children join Joe Wicks for live PE lesson following UK school closures

Joe Wicks has revealed that Wednesday will be his final live “PE with Joe” workout.

The fitness entrepreneur has been hosting live virtual workouts on YouTube through lockdown to ensure that children who were unable to go to school maintained their physical fitness.

Now, after 18 weeks of workouts, Wicks has announced that he is taking a break.

“I’ve absolutely loved every minute of it but it’s time for me to take some rest and recharge my batteries,” he wrote in a caption below a photograph of a living room that had been decorated with bunting and balloons.

“It’s not the end though. I’ll be back doing more live workouts later on in the year,” he added.

Wicks went on to say that he thinks he will “really miss” hosting the live workouts.

“I started it the week that schools went into lockdown because I wanted to help support parents and help children find some happiness, use some energy and feel safe through this time,” he continued.

“I really do believe I achieved that.”

Wicks added that his videos have had more than 80 million views worldwide, which he said is “hard to comprehend”.

“This truly is my proudest achievement,” he concluded.

“Thank you for joining me. I’d love to see you in the morning for one last hoorah.”

Wicks added that his wife, Rosie, and their two children, Indie and Marley, will be joining him for the workout.
