Mersey dream goes on for Latics with Everton tie

Oldham were rewarded for victory over Liverpool with another home tie against Merseyside opposition after being paired with Everton in the FA Cup fifth-round draw. Paul Dickov's side are in the last 16 for the first time since reaching the semi-finals in 1994.

Holders Chelsea will again face lower-league opposition should they overcome Brentford in a replay, Tony Mowbray's Middlesbrough awaiting. Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal were all handed home ties. Roberto Mancini's Premier League champions will host giantkillers Leeds, who beat Tottenham 2-1. Arsenal, without a trophy since 2005, welcome Blackburn. Manchester United host a Reading side who have won five of their last six matches.

Wigan await the winners of Huddersfield's replay with Leicester, non-league Luton welcome Millwall, while Barnsley will travel to Milton Keynes Dons.

Blistering Djokovic too strong for Andy

Novak Djokovic recovered from one set down to beat Andy Murray for his third consecutive Australian Open title yesterday. The Scot began superbly before struggling with blisters, allowing Djokovic to retain his crown with a 6-7 7-6 6-3 6-2 victory in Melbourne. MORE

Smith and Oldham stun Liverpool

Two goals from Matt Smith helped League One Oldham Athletic consign Liverpool to a surprise 3-2 defeat and dump the top-flight side out of the FA Cup. Luis Suarez and Joe Allen struck for the visitors but Paul Dickov's side hung on for a famous victory. MORE

Late turnaround for Blue Sharks

Cape Verde scored twice in the last 10 minutes to earn a 2-1 win over Angola in the African Cup of Nations and book their place in the quarter-finals. Managed by air traffic controller Lucio Antunes, the debutants reached the last eight after finishing second in Group A. 

Armstrong claims ridiculed by chief

Lance Armstrong's claims that he used drugs to make it a level playing field have been ridiculed by an anti-doping chief. "It's offensive to clean athletes who are working hard to play by the rules," Travis Tygart said. "It's just simply not true." MORE

Dwain Chambers has praised disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong for owning up to taking banned products. "He has done the right thing," the athlete, who served his own drugs ban, said. "I would say that's what any person in life should do." MORE
