Italian Culture

Benefits of learning ItalianItaly is well-known for its long history, famous Roman architecture, the Renaissance, literature, music, science, sport, food and for being a year-round fantastic destination to travel to.

The 14th Century Renaissance began in Italy. The Renaissance movement was a highly influential rebellion of learning based on classical sources, sparking many intellectual revolutions, including in the sciences and religion. However the Renaissance is probably best known for its artistic developments by names such as Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael and Botticelli.

Italy's renaissance also was the impetus for gradual but widespread educational reform as part of social and political upheaval and spread during the 15th century, with great speed from its birthplace in Florence throughout Europe, strongly aided by the invention of the printing press.

Legend says that Rome was founded in 753 BC and flourished thereafter by the development of a stable province around the city. Agriculture, industry and handicraft thrived, which allowed the beginnings of a strong export trade, the creation of public infrastructure and public structures. Many of these are still standing and are still awe-inspiring.
