Comedians respond to Gal Gadot's Imagine video

In response to Gal Gadot’s heavily-criticised rendition of “Imagine”, Joe Lycett/Hugo Boss gathered together his comedian friends for his own cover.

Gadot’s cover of the John Lennon track saw Hollywood stars like Natalie Portman, Will Ferrell and Amy Adams sing small parts of the track for a video that has since gone viral.

The video, which has been viewed more than two million times on Instagram, was created to boost morale as the coronavirus continues to cause cities around the world to go into national lockdown.

It was met with a less appreciative response by many, however, with viewers dubbing it “cringey” and “out-of-touch”.

After seeing the video, Joe Lycett, who recently changed his name to Hugo Boss in a protest against the company’s legal targeting of small businesses, gathered together comedian friends for his own response. Greg James, Katherine Ryan, Nish Kumar, Noel Fielding, Paul Chuckle and Harry Hill were among the names to participate

The lyrics boasted the lines: “Imagine there’s no b*****ds… it’s easy if you’re a b*****d.

“No bast*rds below us… above us only b*****ds…

“Imagine all the b*****ds… living for today… to be a b*****d.”

So far the response has been viewed over one million times.
