This is a CIPD postgraduate level course in HRM which is completed in two years. Participants will develop their skills and knowledge in business and people leadership, as well as talent management and development all in relation to HR. The emphasis of this course is on strategic thinking in order to ensure that HR/HRD management contributes to the success of the organisation.

Participants have the following choices in attending the classes:

  • Part time evening course (88 evenings, 17:45-21:15 once a week over two years)
  • Weekend block course (40 days, 09:30-17:45, delivered over 20 weekends, once a month over two years)
  • Competency route

Through its blended learning platform, Acacia Learning provides a combination of:

1) Formative assessments which are assessed informally through the completion of on-line tasks (activities and social interaction through ‘communities of practice’) and delivery (teaching, learning, action sets, case studies, presentations for example).

2) Summative assessments:

  • Year 1 Modules - all first year modules will be assessed through 100% of learning outcomes. The modules 7HRC and 7LMP are nationally set and marked exams. The remaining modules will utilise the CIPD Bank Assessments.
  • Year 2 Modules - minimum of 50% of learning outcomes from the CIPD Bank Assessments.

The modules will use the CIPD Generic Assessment Criteria with modules graded as: Fail (below 50%), Pass (50-59%), Merit (60-69%) and Distinction (70% +).

Participants can start on whichever module is the most convenient to them and they will have access to tutors and fellow learners throughout their study on this course.

Suitability - Who should attend?

This is an advanced level diploma in HRM and as such is ideal for HR professionals looking to take their knowledge to the strategic and managerial level.

Training Course Content

In order to achieve the Advanced Diploma participants are required to complete eight modules.

Mandatory Modules:

  • Leading, Managing and Developing People (7LMP):
    • Identify evidence on effective approaches to Human Resource (HR) practice
  • HR Management in Context (7HRC):
    • Analyse environmental contexts and how to respond to these dynamic environmental contexts
  • Investigating a Business Issue from an HR Perspective (7IBI):
    • Diagnose and investigate a live, complex business issue from an HR perspective and make actionable recommendations
  • Developing Skills for Business Leadership (7SBL):
    • Develop self-awareness of your strengths and weaknesses as a business leader

Optional Modules:

Participants choose four from the six modules listed below:

  • Organisational Design and Development (7ODD):
    • Develop a critical understanding of organisation design and development
  • Resourcing and Talent Management (7RTM):
    • The strategic and operational aspects of resourcing and talent management within a global context
  • Learning and Talent Development (7LTD):
    • The contribution of learning and talent development to both formulating and achieving objectives
  • Leadership and Management Development (7LMD):
    • Development in facilitating organisational, team and individual change and growth
  • Reward Management (7RWM):
    •  Examine rewards in an organisational and international context and understand the environment in which reward professionals plan, implement and evaluate employee reward policies to support strategic organisational goals.
  • Employment Law (7ELW):
    • Provides knowledge, understanding and skills required to brief organisations on the consequences of current and future developments in employment law, to give up-to-date, timely and accurate advice concerning the practical application of legal principles at work in different jurisdictions.

Expenses

The cost for this Advanced Diploma course with Acacia Learning is £5,500 +VAT.

This includes:

  • Attendance at all workshops
  • Comprehensive course materials for each module
  • A core textbook
  • 24 hour access to learning materials on-line

Participants are also required to add their CIPD Student Membership and examination fees (if applicable), both of which are payable directly to CIPD. The CIPD will be able to confirm the current fees. (These costs are not included in the course fee.)
