Automated External Defibrillators (AED) - Public First Aid Course

Automated External Defibrillators (AED) - 2-hour training for those who have a first aid certificate

This Automated External Defibrillators (AED) course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to effectively use an AED in emergency situations in the workplace. The course will also provide a recognised first aid certificate in AED use in the workplace.

The 2-hour progamme begins with a recap of key personal safety issues and then goes on to cover such topics as patient assessment, defribrillation, and CPR.

Suitability - Who should attend?

This Automated External Defibrillators (AED) course is suitable for employees who need to be trained in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) machine.

Pre-requisites

Candidates must have a current first aid certificate, be physically able to carry out the procedures listed in the course outline and be competent in CPR skills.

Outcome / Qualification etc.

Candidates who attend all of the sessions and are successful in the practical assessment will receive the AED Certificate, which is valid for three years.

Training Course Content

Course content includes:

  • recap of personal safety
  • assessing the incident and patient
  • DRABC check and sending for help
  • defibrillation (recognition of heart rhythms)
  • cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use of AED on a casualty
  • general guidelines for using a defibrillator
  • recording of information (sample report form)
  • handover to the emergency services.

This course is regularly run in locations all over the UK -  prices vary based on whether your chosen venue is inside or outside the M25.

In-House Training

If you have a group of up to 12 delegates, the British Red Cross can deliver this course on your own premises or at a location to suit your needs.
