Will Smith reunites Fresh Prince cast on remote show

A reboot of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is in the works, months after a fan-made trailer went viral and gave the show a new look.

According to Deadline, the reboot is currently being shopped to streamers by Westbrook Studios, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith‘s company, and Universal Television.

Sources close to the production confirmed the news to The Independent.

The project is based on the trailer shared in 2019 by cinematographer and director Morgan Cooper.

Titled Bel-Air, the clip shares similarities with the iconic sitcom.

Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Janet Hubert, Alfonso Ribeiro, Tatyana Ali, James Avery, and Will Smith in a promo shot for ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’.

Notably, it focuses on a young man named Will who gets sent to live with relatives in Bel-Air, Los Angeles.

However, in this version, the change occurs after Will gets arrested for carrying a gun – a narrative arc not featured in the Nineties show.

Cooper is attached to the project as director and executive producer.

His Bel-Air trailer has earned more than 5m views on YouTube.
