Realising Talent in Others

This course will upskill leaders to develop capabilities in others that meet the motivational needs of each individual; and match the need of the organisation.

Employees have latent talents and existing skills we often fail to leverage. Turning these talents into capabilities by developing others to their fullest potential is a leader's most important work and a requirement for long-term organisational success.

Supporting this leadership role are major studies over the past 40 years confirming that people, by their nature, have a strong need to:

  • Engage in interesting activities
  • Succeed at new challenges
  • Improve their competence
  • Demonstrate mastery

So why do many employees feel de-energized and disengaged at the prospect of job-related growth and development? And why do many leaders believe that developing others is too much effort for too little return? This disconnect requires a fundamental rethinking of how leaders approach their critical responsibility. To realise untapped potential and achieve business outcomes, Realising Talent in Others™ helps leaders match the employee's natural need to demonstrate competence with the organisation's need to succeed.

Suitability - Who should attend?

The Realising Talent in Others module is designed for first-level and mid-level leaders.

Training Course Content

This course is often run as a half-day face-to-face event or as 2 x 90-min virtual instructor-led training sessions, with intersession activities.

This programme will enable your leaders to:

  • Recognise the psychological needs of individuals and incorporate leadership behaviours to support them
  • Uncover high impact development opportunities that tap into the employee’s internal motivation
  • Link employee development activities to business goals and objectives
  • Collaborate on development plans that boost employee interest and activate productivity
  • Unleash and leverage individual capabilities to achieve workgroup and organisational results

This module leverages a variety of learner-centric approaches that ensure participants develop knowledge and skills and have the ability to apply them. Our designs rely on the following learning model.

  • Awareness: Each module begins by building awareness and knowledge of key concepts through discussions, presentations, business examples and cases, and  experiential activities.
  • Practice: Participants also engage in activities that cause them to put the knowledge and related skills and strategies into practice in a safe and reinforcing environment.
  • Application: Importantly, participants determine how to apply what they have learned to their individual issues and job situations.

Participants in AchieveForum programmes spend more than two-thirds of session time practicing and applying concepts to actual work situations. This real-work focus accelerates learning and helps to sustain it by enabling participants to apply the learning in the future.
