Floral Designs for Gifts
This is a five-week course looking at creating floral gifts for you to give on those special occasions.;
Suitability - Who should attend?
To create your flower arrangements, you will be required to bring the following objects to each weekly session:
Week 1: hand tie bouquet
- 15 – 20 stems flower such as, Roses, Chrysanthemums, Eustoma, Eryngium,
- two stem filler flowers, such as, wax flower, Aster, Solidaster
- six stems of foliage, like, Eucalyptus, Pittosporum, Ruscus
- cellophane
- ribbon or raffia
- string and scissors
- a notebook and pen
Week 2: a floral gift in a hat box
- 20 stems flowers, such as a mix of Roses, Germini, Spray Chrysanthemums, Tulips, Eustoma
- optional foliage, such as, Pittosporum, Ruscus, Euonymus
- hat box
- posy pad
- organza ribbon
- scissors
Week 3:;vegetative design from your garden
- 15-20 stems of seasonal flower,
- Roses, Germini’s Carnation, Tulips, Eustoma
- seasonal foliage
- shallow dish?oasis
- scissors and a knife
Week 4: topiary tree
- two small Fatsia japonica’s
- ten Equisetum ?or Cornus stems
- two Phormium leaves
- five large flowers, such as, Gerbera/Rose;
- container
- oasis
- scissors and a knife
Week 5: summer border parallel design
- ten small Roses
- two stems of Gypsophilia
- ten stems small foliage Hebe, small Pittosporum
- container or plant pot
- trunk sunk into patching plaster
- moss or pebbles
- scissors
Outcome / Qualification etc.
You will need to bring scissors and secateurs. You may also wish to bring a camera to record the day and a box to take your designs home in.
