Course Description

AED With Life Support - Public or In-House First Aid Course

AED (Automated External Defibrillator) With Life Support - half day scheduled training or in-house

This AED With Life Support course will train you in how to effectively use an automated external defibrillator (AED) machine as well as basic life support techniques for people who are unresponsive. The course has been designed for individuals who do not hold a first aid certificate. 

The half-day hands-on programme covers key topics such as evaluating an incident, understanding the rationale behind checking for danger and explaining how the heart and defibrillation work.

By the end of the course, delegates should be able to demonstrate the use of an AED - with and without CPR - in pairs as well as on their own, after all of the sessions have been successfully completed, they will be awarded the AED With Life Support Certificate.

Suitability - Who should attend?

This AED With Life Support course is suitable for employees who need to be trained in first aid for unresponsive adult casualties and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) machine.

It is intended for those who do not hold a current first aid certificate.

Pre-requisites

Candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures listed in the course outline.

Outcome / Qualification etc.

Candidates who attend all of the sessions and are successful in the practical assessment will receive the AED With Life Support Certificate, which is valid for three years.

Training Course Content

This course covers:

  • helping someone who is unresponsive and breathing
  • helping someone who is unresponsive and not breathing
  • how to use an automated external defibrillator:
    • the heart
    • heart conditions
    • heart rhythms
    • chain of survival
    • use of an AED
    • safety considerations

This course is regularly run in locations all over the UK -  prices vary based on whether your chosen venue is inside or outside the M25.
