Course description

Airtightness Testing Level 1

The airtightness training course is built around the National Occupational Standards ASTATT1 to ASTATT10.

The airtightness training course with BSRIA will provide sufficient theory and practice to enable Participants to test buildings using Minneapolis blower door equipment, pass the examinations and begin the registration process.

This 4-day airtightness training course provides the theory behind airtightness testing as well as hands-on training. It culminates in a three-part examination which, when passed, will enable Participants to begin the process of registration. The practical demonstrations and practical exam on this course are carried out using Minneapolis blower door equipment.

As a member of ATTMA, BSRIA is UKAS accredited to test to CIBSE TM23, BS EN 13829, and ATTMA TSL1 and TSL2, guaranteeing certificates will be recognised by your Building Control Officer for Part L Building Regulations and Scottish Building Standards compliance.

Target Audience

Participants who would like to become accredited air tightness testers.

Admission Requirements

To get the most from this course Participants should be computer literate. Participants should have a base knowledge of mathematics, physics and construction practice and should understand the basic concept of building envelope areas. Participants in England, Wales and Northern Ireland should download and read ATTMA TSL1 and ATTMA TSL2 and bring copies with them when they attend the course. Participants in Scotland should download and read ATTMA TS1. Participants who intend to carry out tests in Scotland or the Republic of Ireland should obtain a copy of BS EN 13829:2001 "Thermal Performance of Buildings. Determination of air permeability of buildings. Fan pressurization method. Participants should download National Occupational Standards ASTATT1 to ASTATT10.
