Our Pottery course introduces you to traditional and contemporary skills, taught by a practising ceramicist in our spacious and well-equipped studio.
If you are a beginner you will enjoy learning the basic techniques but if you have some experience already you will be challenged with new materials, and new making and decorating processes.
Ten-week sessions begin with instruction in clay preparation and throwing on the potter's wheel. Throwing carries on in the second term along with the hand building techniques of coiling and slab building. In the third term a more experimental approach is encouraged with work based on assignments or personal projects.
Basic clay and glazes will be provided but you may need to purchase further specialist ceramic materials.
Recruitment - if we do not recruit to our target numbers we will try to offer the courses at reduced hours. If a course does not recruit enough students to run, you will receive a refund. Please refer to the Adult Course Guide for guidance on other refund issues.
