Course description

Upholstery Modern/Traditional

This full day course if for beginners who can't commit to a weekend and would like to "dip their toe" into upholstery with a small traditional or modern upholstery project, or for those with some upholstery experience who would like to pop in for some guidance with a project they are working on.

Examples of projects could be a deep buttoned stool, sprung chair or a small armchair. For beginners it would be advisable to start with a simple project such as a drop-in seat which will provide you with the upholstery basics and enable you to work through future projects more independently.

Before commencing this course, it is important the tutor knows what you intend to bring to work on. This will ensure that students have access to the appropriate resources and materials on the day. These courses are informal but very busy. Students will receive individual step by step instructions from the tutor on how to strip and rebuild or just recover their piece of furniture using the appropriate techniques for the individual project.

Sundries and basic materials, tools and equipment will be available for students to use during these workshops. All upholstery materials/fillings and sundries (other than tacks and staples) will be charged for by amount used. Payment for these will be taken at the end of the course or per session attended.
