Course description

CompEx Ex05 and Ex06 Dust

CompEx is the national training and assessment scheme for electro technical crafts personnel who work in potentially explosive atmospheres, such as on and off-shore Oil and Gas Pharmaceuticals, Energy and Chemical industries.

CompEx is a national joint training initiative developed and implemented by the Engineering Equipment and Material Users Association (EEMUA) and JTL and is supported by the Health and Safety Executive.

JTL, who is the national training agent for the electrical contracting industry, has been appointed to develop, operate and manage the training provision across the UK and has licensed and accredited a number of centres to deliver the training and assessment.

This 3-day course aims to extend the competence for craft persons who prepare, install, maintain and inspect electrical equipment for use in Explosive Dust Atmospheres. The modules meet the competency requirements of IEC 60079 - 14 for Operatives (selection and erection) and IEC 60079 - 17 for Operatives (inspection and maintenance).

On successful completion of the assessments the candidates will be issued with a certificate of core competence by JTL and EEMUA.

Suitability - Who should attend?

Participants of the course should be competent electrical and/or instrument craft personnel with experience in electrical installation work such as cable glanding and continuity and insulation resistance testing. Existing knowledge of Hazardous Area requirements would be beneficial.

You will be required to bring photographic identification and suitable evidence to prove your competence. This ideally will be a certification/letter from your employer or a JIB Gold Card.
