Suitability - Who should attend?

This programme is designed for HR professionals aspiring to become an HR Business Partner, or junior developing HR Business Partners looking to increase their knowledge and skills in the development and implementation of business focused, value-driven HR solutions.

In order to gain from, and contribute to this programme fully, you must be in an HR role.

  • develop your capability and potential as an HR leader of the future.

Training Course Content

PRE-WORK- you will be required to complete around 11 hours of pre-reading or pre-work before attending this programme.  Please ensure you factor this into your time. 

(Pre-work will be available on the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). VLE access details will be sent to you 2-3 weeks from the start date. Please note if you are a late booker, access may be delayed slightly, however pre-work will be sent to you via e-mail.)

The programme takes approximately four months to complete and comprises the following:

Module 1 - The Business Savvy HRBP

By the end of the module, you’ll be able to:

  • identify what business leaders actually want from HR in today’s workplace, and to apply the concepts of businesssavviness as an HR Business Partner
  • understand more about current and emerging business models that are changing the way we do business
  • understand how applying a commercial HR mindset will win credibility with the business and its leadership
  • explore how to develop deep organisational insight by identifying, analysing, qualifying and quantifying the key internal and external factors that impact the business
  • identify and evaluate examples of where HR can make the greatest difference by concentrating effort and resources on the areas that matter most to the business
  • demonstrate an understanding of how being insight-led is a critical ingredient to being an effective HR Business Partner and for developing ‘Next Generation HR'.

Module 2 - Mining Data for HR Insight

By the end of the module, you’ll be able to:

  • understand the different types and levels of data used to fuel effective analytics
  • demonstrate an understanding of how data metrics contribute to evidence-based human capital decisions
  • describe the role of human capital analytics as a process for mining organisational data
  • select an appropriate format for communicating various classes of people metrics
  • articulate analytical processes for distinguishing between high and low performance, attrition management, workforce planning and calculating ROI on human capital investment
  • calculate the ROI on human capital investment to ensure that HR enables the business to make key decisions about its people and potential outcomes
  • identify criteria for selecting between strategic and tactical analytics initiatives
  • describe the organisational changes required to support an HR analytics infrastructure.

Module 3 - The Influential Partner

By the end of the module, you’ll be able to:

  • understand why effective influencing is essential for a successful HR Business Partner
  • identify, build upon and add to your existing influencing skills in a business context
  • acknowledge the influence your personal brand can have in managing perceptions
  • examine key tools and models to create and deliver effective communication that makes an impact and influences
  • demonstrate how to practically identify and map key stakeholders who influence your work
  • identify the elements of influencing and learn to apply these to all stakeholder engagements; particularly at a senior level.

Module 4 - The HRBP as Organisational Coach-Mentor

By the end of the module, you’ll be able to:

  • understand the fundamental differences and similarities between coaching and mentoring
  • develop confidence to act consistently as an effective coach-mentor
  • build strategies for the development and improvement of coaching and mentoring
  • develop specialist skills and enhanced professional practice with teams
  • demonstrate an understanding of how to support organisational change programmes through coaching and mentoring
  • explain how to get maximum return on the investment in coaching programmes.

Wrap Up Day

This workshop includes case study (group) presentations and programme learning application.
