Advanced Physical Assessment across the lifespan - CPD accredited course at City University London

The module equips healthcare professionals with skills and knowledge that enables undertaking of physical examination of the newborn within the first 24-72 hours and at 6-8 weeks.

The module gives an opportunity to facilitate informed decision in providing high quality newborn and infant physical assessment and physically examine the baby within the first 24-72 hours after birth and at 6-8weeks. You will also be equipped with skills in knowing normal and abnormal parameters, physical appearance and behavioural responses in term babies and infants at 6-8 weeks.

Suitability - Who should attend?

The training is applicable for candidates if you fit the following criteria:
· Current professional registration with a relevant professional/statutory body or equivalent.
· A current relevant job contract in a clinical area and at least two years' relevant clinical experience.
· If you are undertaking this as part of a Programme, you must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and be able to confirm mentorship from either a doctor or Advanced Nurse Practitioner within your workplace.
· You must work at least one day per week in a clinical setting in which advanced practice skills can be acquired.
· A satisfactory academic reference and a satisfactory clinical reference.

You must also make an application for APM011 (Critical thinking and Diagnostic Reasoning- Neonatal)
Overseas students can only apply as part of a programme and not as a stand-alone module.
Applicants whose first language is not English need to demonstrate their English language proficiency. The minimum requirements are:
· IELTS: 7 overall with a minimum of 7.0 in each component.

Please note that due to changes in the UKVI's list of SELTs, City University London no longer accepts TOEFL as evidence of English language proficiency for students who require a CAS as of April 2014.

Expenses

The cost of this CPD course for UK/EU applicants is £2000 per delegate (no VAT will be charged) which covers course materials, lunch and refreshments.
