Aircraft Maintenance Management MSc - a City University degree programme

The programme gives important knowledge in complex disciplines and a full insight into technical, operational and financial pressures in flight working operations.

Suitability - Who should attend?

Applicants should be employed in the air transport industry for the duration of the course and should have at least two years of experience in a position of professional responsibility in aircraft maintenance at the time of application.Applicants should hold an Aircraft Engineer Licence or a relevant lower second class honours degree or the equivalent from an international institution and a Category B or C Aircraft Maintenance Engineers' Licence or military equivalent.

The programme offers an Aircraft Maintenance Management MSc. Graduates are prepared for positions of responsibility within airlines, aviation authorities and defence forces. Destinations of our graduates have included chief engineer, head of safetyand senior investigator.The University has been providing education in the field of aeronautics since 1909 and offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research courses in aeronautical engineering and related topics. Today the University is renowned for its international focus, the employability of its graduates and its links with business and professions.This course is compatible with The MoD's Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service (ELCAS) - an initiative to promote lifelong learning amongst members of the Armed Forces.

Training Course Content

The course is based on completing nine modules, which are taught over three day periods and held frequently throughout the year in London, Frankfurt and Dubai.Students are also required to undertake a project in a maintenance-related subject. Students who choose not to complete the project receive a Postgraduate Certificate on successful completion of five modules or a Postgraduate Diploma on successful completion of nine modules.

Modules are held regularly in London, Bahrain, Dubai and Frankfurt and elsewhere on an occasional basis. This MSc in Aircraft Maintenance Management follows the format of the well-established MSc Air Transport Management and MSc Air Safety Management. Since its inception, it has been supported by AJWalter Aviation, the world leading specialists in the supply, repair process management, exchange and lease of aircraft spare parts and aircraft project management services.



The cost of the programme is:

  • Part-time EU: £13,500 (total cost for 3 years) until 31 May 2015
  • Part-time Non EU: £13,500 (total cost for 3 years) until 31 May 2015

The Honourable Company of Airline Pilots (previously known as GAPAN) offer up to three Bursaries of part payment of fees per year for the MSc Air Transport Management, Air Safety Management and Aircraft Maintenance MSc Programmes each year.

In addition, AJ Walter offer an annual Bursary for a student on the MSc Maintenance Management Programme, usually allocated to a different geographical region each year.

All students may apply for a scholarship from the ISTAT Foundation that is competitive with other universities across the world.
