What our alumni say

Agathe Gout, City University London alumna now working at BNP Paribas:

The Global Political Economy Master's degree I undertook at City University London gave me the necessary academic and research skills to launch an international career in the development field. Having worked upon financial inclusion challenges in Argentina for my GPE dissertation, I had the opportunity to join the microfinance platform Accion in New-York for a six-month internship right after graduation. I then started as a financial analyst for BNP Paribas' microfinance department headquartered in Paris, and after an extra year of experience I am now heading to Bogota to work on Latin-American infrastructure projects as part of the Bank's Corporate & Investment Banking branch. Being a GPE student has truly been a door opening experience which today allows me to work in a field I am passionate about.

International Politics Careers Day

During your MA year you can attend the Department's 'International Politics Careers Day' which explores career opportunities with International Politics degrees and provides:

  • Talks by speakers within the field (including City alumni). Previous speakers have included staff from the Department for International Development, the Ministry of Justice, UNESCO, the EU Commission and the UN Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO).
  • Talks by careers consultants and volunteering coordinators
  • CV, applications and volunteering drop-in sessions with careers professionals.
