Health Management MSc - a City University degree programme

The MSc in Health Management guides candidates through international strategic insights, critical management perspectives and integrative thinking for leading innovation and change in global healthcare and business. Suitability - Who should attend?

  • Applicants should hold an upper second class degree in any discipline or the equivalent from an international institution. For applicants with relevant experience in healthcare with clinical qualifications and membership of professional bodies a lower second class degree may be accepted.
  • Relevant employment experience or an indication of aptitude for health management are taken into consideration. Clinical qualifications and membership of professional bodies are also taken into consideration.

The course offers a route to City University London through an excellent teaching and learning experience, located in purpose built study facilities. MSc Health Management graduates work globally across many sectors as highly regarded managers and leaders in healthcare often with dual clinical and management responsibilities. This includes: care providers, NGOs and social enterprises, private enterprise, health insurance, pharmaceutical companies, medical devices and biotechnologies; health policy and regulatory organisations; and health management consultancy.


The course is suitable for clinicians and managers with positions of responsibility in healthcare wishing to take their careers to the next level and for graduates with health-related or business degrees preparing for careers in global healthcare.

Course outline:

This course emphasises integrative thinking combining intuition, analytic reason and imagination and transformational leadership capabilities. It develops key competences and capabilities, drawing on diverse organisational and management perspectives.


Graduates develop the capacity to work effectively with others within organisations and across health systems, to think broadly and deeply about challenges in healthcare, and to reflect critically on one's own leadership style, the performance of others, and the influence of international global healthcare contexts.
