Health Policy MSc - a City University degree programme

Due to the increasing longevity and prevalence of chronic illness, there are significant challenges for healthcare worldwide.

As a result of these issues, an increasing amount of emphasis is being placed on finding and formulating best practices to meet the needs of changing populations and issues in healthcare such as social determinants, inequalities and access to care, costs and overall efficiency of the resources employed for the same.

All these issues are taken care of by certain health policy by providing an in-depth understanding of the contemporary health landscape and vital attributes of the professionals.

Suitability - Who should attend?

  • Applicants should hold a second class honours degree or the equivalent from an international institution. We also consider applications from individuals who may not have prior experience of working within the health sector but who have plans for a career in health policy.
  • Applicants who do not hold a degree but do have relevant employment experience in the health sector may be considered.

The way that you apply may vary depending on the length of your course; there are different rules for:

Please note: If you require a Tier 4 student visa to study in the UK, you cannot undertake any City University London courses on a part-time basis.

This programme aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to analyse and attempt to influence the health policy process in the 21st century; understand the social, political and economic factors that affect it at local, national and international level and evaluate its impact on health systems and services and wider society.

It combines an international focus and academic rigour with the development of practical policy analysis and related skills which can be applied in real-world health policy, planning and management settings.

Lectures, workshops and seminars are led by academic staff from the Schools of Health Sciences and Arts & Social Sciences and there is a range of distinguished honorary and guest speakers.
