Course description

Master of Laws LLM

Master of Laws LLM - a City University degree programme

The course offers concentrations in major subjects of law such as International Competition Law or International Banking Law.

Suitability - Who should attend?

In order to maintain an intellectually enriching environment for our students, the City LLM application process is selective. We are interested in receiving applications from individuals with an upper second class honours degree in law (roughly equivalent to a B or B+) from a recognised international institution. Applicants with a first degree in a subject other than law will be considered, but may restrict the choice of modules where content is dependent on a prior knowledge of law.

We expect applicants who are not nationals of a majority English-speaking country OR have not successfully completed an academic qualification, at least equivalent to a UK bachelor's degree, which was taught in a majority English-speaking country as defined by the UK Visas and Immigration, to have an overall IELTS score of at least 7.0.

How do we make our desicion?

In reaching our selection decisions we will take account of:

  • Academic performance
  • Reasons for choice of courses/career
  • Evidence of intellectual ability
  • References
  • Relevant work experience/activity
