Mechanical Engineering MSc - a City University degree programme

The course provides important details in latest technological developments and mechanical engineering concepts of internal combustion, computational field dynamics and turbine engineering. Students will be trained in structured design process using the latest version of industry standard CAD tools; CATIA, Ansys, Cambridge Engineering Selector (CES), Fluent and solid work. Our industry experts deliver modules in mechanics, structures, dynamics of structures, materials, fluids, thermodynamics and mechatronics. These modules improve your knowledge in science and technology and help develop transferable skills such as communication, team work, leadership, multi-tasking, planning and management.

Suitability - Who should attend?

Applicants should hold a lower second class honours degree in mechanical or automotive engineering or a related scientific or engineering discipline, or the equivalent from an international institution.

Consideration is given to candidates who can demonstrate work experience in an appropriate field.

City's Mechanical Engineering MSc has been accredited by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and provides a path for graduates to gain Chartered Engineer status. Blending theory and practice, this course develops the broad skills and knowledge base required by mechanical engineers, providing a platform for career development. You will be equipped with the skills and confidence needed to fulfill leading engineering roles with critical thinking and creativity.

Training Course Content

This course develops the broad skills and knowledge base required by mechanical engineers and provides a platform for career development.

City's internationally-recognised Research Centre for Energy and Transport has excellent computational and experimental facilities which cover all topics including several modern test facilities for experimentations and advanced optical/mechanical instruments for different diagnostic methods.Completion of modules and examinations will lead to the award of a Postgraduate Diploma. The completion of modules, examinations and dissertation will lead to the award of a Masters degree. Specialisations include computer-aided design, energy systems and management, combustions, IC engines, screw compressors and expanders, experimental techniques, mechatronics and dynamics of structures.
