Physics and Instrumentation of Medical Magnetic Resonance - CPD accredited course at City University London

Physics and Instrumentation of Medical Magnetic Resonance is a CPD certified course that aims to provide solid knowledge about the physics base on which Medical Magnetic Resonance Imaging is built upon. This is very important for clinical practitioners as Medical Magnetic Resonance imaging holds a major role in hospitals. The course also aims to equip you with the skill to make judgments on topics that range from equipment assessment to the suitability of particular pulse sequences. This knowledge of the physics core can then be applied safely and properly to clinical situations and enable you to become a confident, studious and critically aware practitioner and allow you to work towards advancing your practitioner status. This module will help you attain the ability to commit to service assessment and research in this clinical specialty and add to the growth and maintenance of best practice in medical magnetic resonance.

Suitability - Who should attend?

This training is for:

  •  Honours degree in Radiography or other health related subject


  • Appropriate professional qualifications e.g. a Diploma from the College of Radiographers or the equivalent from an international institution if the equivalent can lead to registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Applicants should have at least one year of clinical experience in Magnetic Resonance Imaging and be in clinical practice for a minimum of three days per week.

Overseas students can only apply as part of a programme, not as a stand-alone module.

Applicants whose first language is not English need to demonstrate their English language proficiency. The minimum requirements are:

  • IELTS: 7 overall with a minimum of 7.0 in each component.

Please note that due to changes in the UKVI's list of SELTs City University London no longer accept TOEFL as evidence of English language proficiency for students who require a CAS as of April 2014.


The cost of this CPD course for UK/EU applicants is £2000 per delegate (no VAT will be charged), which covers course materials, lunch and refreshments.
