Primary Care (Practice Nursing) BSc (Hons) - a City University degree programme

Primary care offers training in important health provisions such as preventive, treatment and rehabilitation services.

The BSc Primary Care (Practice Nursing) course equips students with skills in practice and organisational settings including relevant applications in professional settings.

Suitability - Who should attend?

  • You will need 120 credits at Level 1 and 2
  • We will need to see evidence that you have undertaken study in the past five years (including assessment results)
  • You must be employed as a Practice Nurse in the UK

If English is not your first language, you will need to prove you have reached an appropriate standard through either of the following qualifications:

  • GCSE English Language at Grade C or above
  • IELTS 6.0.

If you are not from the European Economic Area / Switzerland and you are coming to study in the UK you may need to apply for a visa or entry clearance to come to the UK to study. /p>

The way that you apply may vary depending on the length of your course; there are different rules for:

  • Students on courses of more than 6 months
  • Students on courses of less than 6 months
  • Students on a pre-sessional English Language course

Please note: If you require a Tier 4 student visa to study in the UK, you cannot undertake any City University London courses on a part-time basis.

Training Course Content

The course is for practice nurses, it provides the knowledge and skills needed to deliver a diverse range of services within general practice. The course can be tailored to meet individual practice and development needs due to the wide range of module options available.

The course will help prepare students to meet the many challenging demands of working within general practice, particularly in relation to the essential and additional services of the new General Medical Services contract.
