Course description

Work Based Learning - Expert /Specialist Practice

Work Based Learning - Expert /Specialist Practice - CPD accredited course at City University London

Work Based Learning - Expert /Specialist Practice is a CPD certified course that provides chances for clinical staff who are working towards or engaged in expert/specialty practice and who are unable to undertake strict programmes of study that requires time away from the workplace by allowing them to use their clinical work to gain academic credit. The adaptability of the work based study can lead to more practitioners to engage in study which can result to a credit bearing award without the need to attend formal lectures in the University. The work that individual practitioners engage in as part of this course will be integrated in clinical practice.  One must ensure that they have an appropriately qualified clinical supervisor who can evaluate the negotiated clinical competencies for the clinical practice being undertaken at a clinical area defined between the university and their clinical manager.

Suitability - Who should attend?

Overseas students can only apply as part of a programme, not as a stand-alone module.

  • Honours degree in radiography (typically minimum 2:2) from a UK university or appropriate professional qualifications e.g. Diploma of College of Radiographers.
  • International qualifications in Radiography may be acceptable if the holder is able to gain registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Any applicant with non-standard qualifications may apply subject to confirmation that their qualifications are acceptable and equivalent to an Honours degree in radiography from a UK university.

Normally applicants should have a minimum of 2 years clinical experience in their clinical specialty (e.g. radiotherapy / diagnostic imaging) before starting the module and should continue in clinical practice whilst undertaking the module.

Applicants whose first language is not English need to demonstrate their English language proficiency. The minimum requirements are:

  • IELTS: 7 overall with a minimum of 7.0 in each component.

Please note that due to changes in the UKVI's list of SELTs City University London no longer accept TOEFL as evidence of English language proficiency for students who require a CAS as of April 2014.

The cost of this CPD course for UK/EU applicants is £2000 per delegate (no VAT will be charged), which covers course materials, lunch and refreshments.
