ILM Level 3 Award in Workplace Coaching Course

ILM Level 3 Award in Workplace Coaching - A 4-Day In-House Training Programme

This workplace coaching course is taught over 4 days and results in the ILM Level 3 Award in Workplace Coaching. All course content is highly tailored to ensure that skills learnt are practical and immediately applicable in the workplace. Delegates will work closely with expert tutors and participate in supervised coaching in the workplace to gain a solid understanding of best practice in workplace coaching.

Blended Learning Approach

Alternatively, this training programme is offered in a blended learning format. Under this approach, delegates will participate in 2 days of in-house training and complete the remaining course work via an online internet portal. After the completion of a final 6 hours of work-based coaching, delegates will have received 121 coaching tutorials and participated in tutor-supervised sessions.

ILM Approved CentreOn successful completion of the four-day training programme, all candidates will receive the ILM Level 3 Award in Workplace Coaching as well as a 1-year membership to the ILM.

Training Course Content

This 4-day taught training programme is designed to cover the following modules:

For the fully taught program there are 4 days of classroom work covering units:

D3.01 Understanding good practice in workplace coaching

  • The role, responsibilities and characteristics of the effective workplace coach
  • The range of appropriate behaviours for a coach to use to demonstrate respect for learner’s views and attitudes, promote equality of opportunity and avoid abusing their relationship with others
  • How appropriate assessment tools can be used to identify a person’s learning needs and learning styles or preferences
  • The importance of agreeing appropriate learning outcomes for workplace coaching activities
  • How the agreed learning outcomes and a person’s learning styles or preferences should be used to determine an appropriate coaching style
  • Potential barriers to achieving the planned outcomes of coaching in the workplace and explain suitable strategies to overcome these barriers
  • Assess own ability to use a variety of interpersonal communication strategies and give effective feedback to learners on their performance in order to coach them in the workplace

D3.02 Organising workplace coaching

  • The context of coaching at work
  • The pre-requisites for an ideal Coaching Environment
  • Risk Assessment
  • Monitoring and Assessment

D3.03 Undertaking supervised coaching in the workplace

  • 6 hours of work-based coaching experience
  • 121 coaching tutorials and "supervised sessions" with a tutor
