History - International Political Economy: Tonbridge, This course is a combination of International economic and international political relations. It will analyse the historic development and models how these relationships have developed. While each country historically developed a local and national, the political relationships have been in existence since the very early existence of social interactions., As the economies developed over centuries and became much more æinternationalÆ than just more ænationalÆ and became much more æpoliticisedÆ certainly from the early 19th century û Mercantilism certainly comes in mind during the Napoleonic period û it is important to analyse and understand the way international economic relations developed., This course will look into the main players in the international framework and their development, concentrating on the historic European, North American and East Asian states. In addition, it will look into different models how interpretation of political thought defined the international outlook both in political and economic terms., This course will look at models like mercantilism, free trade, writers and academics like John Stuart Mill, John Smith, Schumpeter, the free trade movement of Britain and the United States vs the Social Democratic model practised in Scandinavia, the Netherlands and in central Europe vs the æpopulistÆ corporatist model of Japan and other East Asian countries. And it might look at the discussion about Britain in the World in the context of recent events. , , By the end of the course, students will be able to, - explain the historical development of international political relations, -describe two models of economy ruling political relationships, - compare the four main models used in different parts of the World, - analyse the place of contemporary Britain in the international political economy, , , , , , , , This course will suit anyone interested in the history of London or the Tudor period.
