It is incredibly important for all organisations to take a proactive approach to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). As well as there being a moral case for it there’s also a business case and, of course, it’s a matter of law. So ‘ whether’ is not the issue – it’s ‘how’.
Yet it can remain a challenge in practice since it relies so much on how individuals interact and behave at work. And that means that everyone needs to ‘get it’.
While policies and procedures may cover the fundamentals of best practice, what makes a difference on the ground is how these are applied day-to-day, by all employees – ultimately, on how well we embrace difference and how well we work with respect.
This session is an opportunity to consider these issues and to think about how much more we all need to do in the workplace about this issue – whatever level we’re at within the organisation, whatever our function.
