The Art of Nature and the Nature of the Art:

What you will learn

Painting and drawing from plants, using water colours and inks. The course will also draw on the folkloric, symbolic, and medicinal properties of plants and flowers and the grand art tradition of the still life, exploring the tensions between abstraction and apparent realism. All materials provided.

By the end of the course you will be able to

  • To draw with paint using a large brush
  • Train your eye to see the subtleties of colour and texture
  • Mix colour and translate these observations into marks on the page
  • Develop your own painting style and composition
