Course description

Digital SLR Photography - Level Two

This practical course is aimed at the serious photography enthusiast who wants to take great portraits and landscapes.

The course is ideal for anyone who knows the basics.

You might have attended a beginners' course in digital photography and are looking to reach the next level, or you might be a more experienced camera user who needs some structure to help you develop further.

To get the most out of this course you must have some familiarity with Photoshop and have your own digital camera.

On this course, you will:

  • learn more about camera handling, autofocus, exposure and location lighting
  • be encouraged to practice your new skills using professional models in the studio and in engaging locations
  • combine the ‘tips and tricks’ of camera handling with the skills required for working with clients
  • take your original photographs and, with the aid of Photoshop, convert and enhance RAW files and export these as jpegs.

What will you gain?

By the end of the course, you will have the skills to make exciting (and potentially saleable) pictures.

Here's what our previous attendees have said:

"Doing the DSLR Improvers course with Paul was a great experience. The tips I picked up on the course have really made a difference in the quality of my photography – and the course enabled me to push my photography into new areas, including studio portraiture and HDR, which is really exciting! I’d recommend this course to anyone looking to refine their camera handling and learn new techniques, especially as you get the chance to ask questions and receive one-to-one advice." MK

Tutor Profile: Paul Carroll graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a First Class Honours Degree in Photography.

He then spent more than two years working on the UK's best selling photography magazine ‘Digital Photo’ where he was responsible for planning, writing and illustrating articles regarding general camera skills and editing RAW files.
