Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health (Childcare Course)
The main aim of this qualification is to help you to gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to effectively support children and early years mental health and to promote healthy practices.
This course will give you an in-depth understanding of mental health and the various signs of poor mental health in young children, how to approach this topic and aid the children in your care.

Level 2
You will learn about a variety of learning difficulties and be given the skills to best approach the children.
This short course will run via weekly webinars, giving you the opportunity to do your coursework at home. You will receive a professional Level 2 qualification awarded to you by TQUK.
Training Course Content
Learning topics and areas of development include:
- Principles of mental health concerns
- Legislation and best practice relating to children and young people's mental health
- Living with childhood mental health conditions
- How to minimise the risk of mental health concerns
- Causes and diagnosis of mental health concerns
Course delivery details
All teaching sessions will be provided remotely and learners will be provided workbooks to provide evidence of knowledge.
Throughout the course you will receive and have access to a range of resources in order to enable you to develop your skills and knowledge of mental health illnesses in children.
Expenses
Our courses are cost free for learners. For employers the apprenticeship will be paid for through apprenticeship levy or 95% of the course will be funded externally.
