Course description

Teaching Assistant: NCFE CACHE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools (RQF)

The NCFE CACHE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools (RQF) has been designed to provide learners with the understanding they need to become effective school support workers. The distance learning qualification is knowledge based. This means that students do not have to be working in a school whilst they complete the qualification. The online course itself develops learners’ skills when it comes to diversity and inclusion, effective communication and safeguarding in a school environment.

This qualification is an ideal stepping stone for candidates not yet employed by schools. It is also a useful award for any supporting staff in primary or secondary schools. School administrators, receptionists, librarians, IT support workers, learning support assistants, teaching assistants, caretakers and lunch-time assistants will all benefit from this completing the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools (RQF). In order to receive the award, learners must achieve 12 credits, nine of these credits coming from part A and three credits from part B. For more information on the modules, check out our syllabus page.

Outcome / Qualification etc.

What Can I Do After Taking This Course?

  • On completing the home learning qualification, you will be eligible to apply for a number of school support-based roles.
  • Alternatively, you may choose to study to a higher level or undergo more home study courses. The Award shares some of its units with the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools qualification. If you want, the modules can be transferred over and will count towards the certificate.
  • If you already work in a school role, you may be eligible to apply for a promotion, receive more responsibility or even request a pay rise.
  • After studying this course, some students may decide they want to study at university level and find work at a higher level in a school environment.
