Course description

Teaching Assistant: Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools (RQF) Level 3

The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools (RQF) has been designed to provide individuals with the knowledge they need to become effective teaching assistants. On completion of the qualification, students will have increased their employability and will feel confident supporting learning in a primary, secondary or SEN classroom environment.

This specific qualification integrates four extra modules into the Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Diploma. These four additional online modules give Stonebridge students a deeper understanding of the profession and set them a step above the rest when it comes to employment. Once you have successfully completed your study period and earnt the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools, you will receive a qualification listed on the RQF (Regulated Qualifications Framework).

50-Hour Placement

In order to successfully complete this qualification, every student must undergo at least 50 hours of work experience. This placement can be either paid or voluntary, so long as it provides the necessary evidence that the student needs to pass the course. The only detail we insist on is that the placement takes place in a school. The school can be a primary, junior or secondary school which admits students between the ages of four and 15. We accept experience from mainstream schools, academies, independent institutions and specialist settings; however the following educational organisations will not be accepted:

  • After school clubs
  • Colleges
  • Distance learning colleges
  • Nurseries
  • Pre-schools
  • Universities
  • Sunday schools

What Can I Do After Taking This Course?

  • After finishing this Level 3 course, you will be able to find your first job as a teaching support assistant. This qualification will prepare you for work in a nursery, infant or junior school, an SEN school, a secondary school or even an independent school or academy. As a qualified teaching assistant you could earn a salary between £17,000 and £23,000 per year.
  • If you were already working as a teaching assistant before the course, this qualification could make you eligible for a promotion. Once you become a senior teaching assistant, you will be given more responsibility and receive a pay rise.
  • Alternatively, this qualification could provide the entry requirements you need to enrol on a foundation degree course. If you successfully pass a foundation course, you could go on to achieve a university degree and become a lead teacher.
