Cookery - Authentic Indian Cooking
Overview
If you’re interested in cooking authentic Indian food that goes beyond standard curry-house fare, this course is for you. Your tutor will lead you through the ingredients, flavours and techniques used in real Indian home cooking.
What will we cover?
You will learn the basic cooking skills used to prepare Indian dishes, making a variety of basic curry sauces such as dahls and biryani.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This course is suitable for all abilities, from beginners to those with more knowledge and experience of cooking. Less experienced or less confident cooks may be encouraged to limit the number of dishes they prepare.
This course is suitable for vegetarians. Although some of the planned recipes may include meat, the tutor will always be able to suggest alternative ingredients.
As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
The course fees do NOT include the cost of ingredients, and you are responsible for bringing your own ingredients to class.
You will need to bring all the ingredients set out in the Ingredients list, which will be sent out 1 week before the start of your course.
Bring suitable containers to take food home in. Note, this may be hot food, or liquid-based, eg curries, so the containers should be heat-proof and air-tight.
Please bring an apron, and tea-towels.
Bring a pen, and your reading glasses (if you use them), so that you can read and make notes about the recipes.
It is important to wear clothes and footwear suitable for a busy, hot kitchen.
What can I do when I finish the course?
Following this course you could progress on to other cookery courses offered at the Centre, all enjoyable, informative and creative. We have a range of international cookery courses, so take a look at the brochure or online to see what else is available.
