Course description

Creative Writing - Craft Characters that Leap off the Page

How can you make a character memorable? Or hook your reader in? This one day workshop will help you to develop creative writing skills, will inspire and loosen your imagination, and promote writing confidence as you develop strong, compelling characters.
What will we cover?

We’ll cover the basics of creative writing with a focus on building memorable characters. Topics such as writing realistic dialogue and hooking your reader will be discussed. But we’ll also think about inspiration and creativity, and how we can turn our ideas into credible stories. Whether writing a short story, memoir or novel, characters are essential.

This course is about writing and you’ll be encouraged to put pen to paper and produce your own creative pieces. Fundamental to the process of good writing is sharing your work, and we’ll be giving and receiving feedback in a supportive and constructive atmosphere.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

All abilities are welcome. No previous knowledge necessary.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Please bring your imagination, lots of creativity, and a willingness to have some fun. Notebook and pen are also required.
