Creative Writing - Reading & Writing Children's Literature
Overview
The workshop will begin with a chance to reflect on and discuss our own childhood experiences of reading and to talk about the children's books we cherish most.
What will we cover?
Some ways of understanding Children’s and Young Adult Literature will then be introduced, including its place in education and development, and how it tends to reflect or challenge attitudes and trends in wider society. The final stage of the workshop will involve a brainstorming session with the opportunity for participants to develop an idea in brief for a book, picture-book, story, or poem, with peer and tutor feedback and suggestions offered in a friendly, supportive and relaxed environment.
