Drawing & Illustration - All Abilities

Drawing & Illustration - All Abilities [FDF3020G]: Overview

Can’t draw? Want to draw? The main focus of this course is on drawing using a range of techniques and skills.

What will we cover?

On this creative course we will continue looking at drawing & illustration techniques. Focusing mainly on the drawing aspect we will cover such principles as line, tone, proportion & perspective, using techniques like sketching, pencil drawing & full shading, pen & ink and cross-hatching. Examples of subjects covered are still life, landscape, animals, figure drawing, portraits etc etc. The tutor teaches by way of step by step demonstrations so you will be able to watch each process before attempting any stage yourself.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

For Beginners, Improvers and anyone who needs to chill out doing something completely different from their everyday work. From those with little or no experience of drawing to those who have practiced but need a refresher to get motivated again.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

For the first session bring a pad of A3 cartridge paper or any pad of cartridge or watercolour paper that you already own, a range of harder pencils (HB, H, 2H) and eraser (and whatever drawing materials you may already have purchased). Other materials needed during the course will be discussed in advance of the lesson where those materials are needed; however materials you will definitely use include pen and ink, brushes & water colour pencils.

What can I do when I finish the course?

To progress on to other courses in painting, drawing, calligraphy and bookbinding. Many other opportunities to take up other longer art & craft classes meet like-minded people and make friends.
