Drawing & Painting - Developing Skills

Drawing & Painting - Developing Skills [AEF4014G]: Overview

Want to improve your drawing skills further? On this step by step mixed-media course you will be looking at further drawing and painting techniques. This is an excellent progression course to follow the Drawing & Painting – Developing Skills for Beginners course.

What will we cover?

During this course you will be taught a range of drawing & painting methods and the use of photographs, found images or working from direct observation including exercises to develop skills in tone, colour, texture and composition. You will gain confidence in using a range of materials including pencil, pen, watercolour & touch on acrylics. You will have access to one to one support & the tutor teaches by way of step by step demonstrations. The overall aim is to help you develop techniques through a mixture of practice, discussion and demonstration.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

Beginners and Improvers - Absolutely anyone and everyone who needs to chill out doing something completely different from their everyday work. From those with little or no experience of drawing to those who have practiced but need a refresher to get motivated again

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Bring whatever painting materials you may already have purchased, a pad of A3 watercolour paper (300gsm), Watercolour paints (tutor uses & recommends St. Petersburg Whitenights), mixing palette, Watercolour brushes sizes 2,4,6 (tutor uses & recommends Winsor & Newton Cotman brushes), harder grades of pencils (HB, H, 2H), an eraser and a sharpener for the first session. A 0.5mm mechanical pencil is also recommended with a pack of 0.5mm 2H grade leads for more detailed work.

What can I do when I finish the course?

To progress on to other courses in painting or drawing, to exhibit at the Harvey Gallery, to build a portfolio of work and to develop further skills and meet new people and gain friends.
