Gardening - Think Big in a Small Space
Overview
Do you have a small garden that is asking for a makeover or just want to know how best to use a small space? We will discover the many options for your garden on this workshop so you will leave full of ideas.
What will we cover?
On this course we will cover some of the basic principles of gardening by indoor demonstration, and group discussion and will be able to help with many ideas for improving and using your garden space, including:
• Being able to recognise annuals, perennials and herbaceous plants
• Your plants and how to prune them or divide them.
• Understand different types of soils and composts
• Creating areas with seasonal colour and scent
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This course is for all abilities.
As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
A pen and paper, a soil sample (in a jam jar about half full of your soil), photos of your garden and any special plants that you feel need pruning..
What can I do when I finish the course?
Continue with other Surrey Adult Learning courses. The tutor can advise you about further courses for progression in Horticulture.
Additional information
The tutor on this course is a qualified horticulturist undergoing a 3-year National Certificate and Diploma in Horticulture; she has studied Social Therapeutic Horticulture at Coventry University and, having spent over 20 years working in an outdoor environment, has many new ideas that she would love to share with others!
