Patchwork & Quilting - Quilt As You Go (SFY) [ADF572NZ]: Overview
This workshop aims to introduce ‘Quilt As You Go’ (QAYG), a versatile and manageable quilting and joining technique. It will provide the opportunity to trial the technique by making a table runner or other suitable small item. Please note that it is possible to make larger or more complex designs and items, but these may not be completed during the day.

What will we cover?
The day will cover a range of textile skills and techniques. There will be elements of design and fabric choice; measuring lengths and angles, instruction in the use of cutting equipment; joining fabrics, layering, quilting and binding edges. Blocks to be joined can be simple or more complex ones prepared before the day.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This workshop has been is designed for beginners and improvers with lots of enthusiasm. Little knowledge is needed at beginner level, although familiarity with a sewing machine would be useful.
It can be studied in isolation or considered as an introduction into a much larger and exciting subject area, and makes for a creative and mindful hobby, with further courses offered throughout the year.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
Learners will need to bring a basic sewing kit and the necessary fabrics and components for the project, plus additional fabrics for trialling and testing techniques. A requirements list will be sent out nearer the course date, which will include suggestions for sourcing the materials

What can I do when I finish the course?
This day is designed to initiate the development of skills in patchwork, quilting and appliqué, and encourage the confidence to enrol in further workshops or follow up courses available in the area throughout the year. For further details, please visit our website information
