Pottery & Claywork - Improvers/Advanced [PEF2024G]: Overview
You will be given advice and tuition as required, following projects set by the tutor or to your own design
What will we cover?
You will practise and learn skills involved with coiling, slabbing and pinching
Make various pottery items using the methods above
Gain confidence in using both clay and glazing materials and be encouraged to take part in group discussions on work achieved
The overall aim is to help you develop basic pottery skills through a mixture of practice, discussion and demonstration techniques
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
For Improvers and Advanced level ( At least a year’s pottery experience) not suitable for Beginners
As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
An old towel is required when throwing
It is essential that you wear closed toe shoes (not sandals or flip flops) and bring an apron or wear old clothes.
What can I do when I finish the course?
Learners will progress within the course or alternatively they can build a portfolio of work for entry to Further Education.
Additional information
Basic materials/technician costs are included. However, learners who choose to work on large projects may be asked to pay additional materials costs depending on size. As a guide, Individual pieces higher than 15 inches/38 cm and wider than 12 inches/35 cm would be considered as large projects
