Soft Furnishing - Curtains, Blinds & Home Textiles [RDF4104G]: Overview

Can’t find curtains or blinds to fit your window? Fed up with your cushions being the wrong colours? Then learn the skills to make your own and add that personal touch to your home.

What will we cover?

You will choose your own project to work on and will be guided from the start and progress at your own pace. A variety of soft furnishing projects can be learnt: You may want to learn how to make curtains or blinds using lining and/or interlining and various headings; the possibilities are endless!

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

All abilities. The course is for anyone one with enthusiasm for the subject.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Please bring measurements and photos of your window and pictures of anything you would like to make (from a book or magazine).

Also please bring fabric and matching thread if you have it, scissors, pins, steel tape measure, calculator and a pad and pencil.

Sewing machines are provided at the centre.

What can I do when I finish the course?

You can attend other sewing courses with Surrey Adult Learning or Further Education. You may wish to set up a business for yourself, or find employment in this field.
