Watercolour - Drawing & Painting People in the Landscape [RDF6433G]: Overview

A rare opportunity to work with talented artist Maggie Read. On this one day course you will learn to draw and paint people in watercolour - adding interest to landscape paintings

What will we cover?

Drawing techniques for figures; shape and proportion; how to draw figures in scale;
Watercolour painting techniques for figures at different distances. Some colour-mixing tips and advice about materials.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

Previous experience of drawing and watercolour painting would be useful but all levels are welcome.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

A list of suggested equipment will be sent out prior to the course but learners may bring their own watercolour materials if they have them already. Please note that we will mix all colours from some basic primaries. Please be sure to bring good quality watercolour paper to get the best effects.

What can I do when I finish the course?

There are many longer watercolour courses to choose from in the current year's programme. See the Surrey County Council's website for information about courses in your area. Tutor can advise.

A rare opportunity to work with talented artist and watercolour painter Maggie Read who is an extremely experienced tutor who studied Graphics and Illustration at UCA and worked as a freelance illustrator for several years. 19 years ago she opened the Pirbright Art Club and has since organised and run regular exhibitions outdoor painting days, workshops and art holidays. Maggie used to run our regular watercolour classes in Woking but now only teaches a couple of Saturday workshops with SAL due to her busy work schedule.

We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
