Watercolour Painting - Landscapes
Overview
You will develop the skills required for successful landscape watercolour painting and develop a good basic knowledge of the techniques and processes required. The course will cover an introduction to the history and context of the medium.
What will we cover?
Learners will gain a good basic knowledge of the materials and equipment used in landscape watercolour painting.
Including: mixing landscape colours practise painting themes, such as water, trees and skies etc
You will gain confidence in using both drawing and watercolour methods and be encouraged to take part in group discussions.
Have access to one to one support.
The overall aim is to help you develop and complete landscapes using the techniques practiced.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
Course suitable for all abilities. For Beginners, Improvers and anyone who needs to chill out doing something completely different from their everyday work. From those with little or no experience of watercolour painting to those who have who have practiced but need a refresher and inspiration to get motivated again.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
Suggested basic equipment:
Paper: Watercolour paper – Bockingford 140lb. (300 gsm) or similar.
Brushes: Synthetic or synthetic/hair mixtures, Round: 2, 6 and 8 or larger and a flat: ¾ or 1”
Paints: Student watercolours in tubes or pans; (Artist’s Colours if you can afford them). Most are usually contained in a beginner’s set or can be bought separately.
Gummed brown paper strip 1½ of 2”
Watercolour palette for mixing paint
F, HB, B pencils
Tissues and/or cotton rags
Small natural sponge
What can I do when I finish the course?
Progression can be discussed on an individual basis. Learners can attend other courses to learn different techniques and mediums. Help can be given with building a portfolio for Art College. You may also wish to sign up for other courses in painting, drawing and calligraphy. Many other opportunities to take up other longer art & craft classes meet like-minded people and make friends.
