IWFM Level 2 Certificate in Facilities Services 

This entry-level qualification in Facilities Management has been designed to help you develop your ability to recall and apply relevant knowledge, ideas, skills and procedures to a live facilities management environment. The programme focuses on the complexities of a facilities management role and prepares you for a variety of well-defined tasks.

The Level 2 Certificate in Facilities Services will enable you to fulfill facilities management tasks and responsibilities with autonomy and confidence. The course assessment tasks are work-related, reflecting live business projects and activities, which brings a real benefit to both individuals and organisations. This competency qualification is assessed against clear learning outcomes and assessment criteria which set out the knowledge and skills needed.

Suitability - Who should attend?

The Level 2 Certificate in Facilities Services qualification is suitable for school leavers and younger individuals who are new to the facilities management industry or have an interest in a facilities management career. This qualification provides an excellent starting ground for a career in facilities management.

Successful learners who complete all training requirements at one of IWFM recognised centres receive a Certificate in Facilities Services at QCF Level 2.

Training Course Content

To be qualified at QCF Level 2 and receive a IWFM Certificate in Facilities Services, learners are required to complete a minimum of 20 credits. A learner needs to complete 2 mandatory units (7 credits).

Mandatory Units

  • Reduce risks to health and safety in the workplace: 3
  • Promote and maintain service delivery: 4

For the remaining credits, a learner can choose optional units from the following suites:

Optional Units - Suite 1: Choose 1

  • Develop customer relationships: 6
  • Contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of premises and facilities: 4

Optional Units - Suite 2: Choose 3 with a combined value of at least 9 credits

  • Support the work of a team and develop yourself: 3
  • Control the use of resources in a property, caretaking and facilities services environment: 3
  • Maintain grounds of premises and facilities: 3
  • Maintain site security and safety: 3
  • Control the use of premises and facilities: 4
  • Work safely at heights: 3
  • Monitor and maintain electrical and plumbing services: 4
  • Carry out maintenance and minor repairs: 3
  • Operate plant to maintain the quality of pool water: 4
  • Deal with routine waste: 3
  • Deal with non-routine waste: 3
  • Deep clean equipment in premises and facilities: 6
  • Support the co-ordination of an event: 3
  • Moving and transporting individuals within a healthcare environment: 2
  • Transport physical resources within the work area: 2
  • Clean and maintain internal surfaces and areas: 4
  • Introduction to equality and inclusion in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings: 2
  • Provide reception services: 3
  • Handle mail: 3
  • Communicate effectively in the workplace: 2
