Anyone who has completed a Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping or has experience in a finance department can complete this course. For anyone without experience looking to enter an accounting role, our Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping is the perfect place to start. Should you experience any difficulties with your course, you would have the support of your tutor and our Student Support Team, who can guide you through any part of your learning.

Training Course Content

Unit 1: Advanced Bookkeeping

This unit will allow you to apply the principles of advanced double-entry bookkeeping, implement procedures for the acquisition and disposal of non-current assets, prepare and record depreciation calculations, record period end adjustments and produce and extend the trial balance.

On completion of this unit, you will sit a computer-based test* at a local centre of your choice. 

Unit 2: Final Accounts Preparation

This unit will allow you to distinguish between the financial recording and reporting requirements of different types of organisation, the need for final accounts and the accounting and ethical principles underlying their preparation as well as preparing accounting records from incomplete information, producing accounts for sole traders and partnerships and the key differences between preparing accounts for a limited company and a sole trader.

On completion of this unit, you will sit a computer-based test* at a local centre of your choice.

Unit 4: Indirect Tax

This unit will provide you with an understanding of applying VAT legislation requirements, accurately completing VAT returns and submitting them in a timely manner, the implications for the business of errors, omissions, late filing and payment as well as reporting VAT-related information within the organisation in accordance with regulatory and organisation requirements.

On completion of this unit, you will sit a computer-based test* at a local centre of your choice.


The course costs include all the learning resources and materials you will need to complete the course, as well as AAT membership and registration to one exam for all three units.

Once you complete a course with us, your opportunities are endless. Not only will your employment opportunities improve, but you could also progress on to other areas of study. You could continue your studies with full Advanced Diploma in Accounting qualification by completing one additional computer based examination and the end of level advanced synoptic assessment.
