This online training course provides a comprehensive understanding of what end of life care entails and the responsibilities of those providing that care. By participating in this course, you will gain essential insights and develop key skills that will enable you to provide effective end of life care.

The care needed during the final stages of life are shaped by unique circumstances. This course has been designed to acknowledge the importance of preparedness and sensitivity for end of life care providers. Communication, assessment, care planning and person-centred care are covered.

Suitability - Who should attend?

This online training course is suitable for individuals who are currently working or planning on working in health and social care, specifically within end of life care. The course is also relevant to those who will be caring for a loved on in the final stages of life.

The course is delivered online via distance learning, learners study at their own pace with flexibility to learn when they like, where they like.

Outcome / Qualification etc.

Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be awarded the CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Principles of End of Life Care, a nationally recognised qualification.

This course not only increases learners' knowledge and skills but also allows them to advance their career, improving progression opportunities in the workplace and giving them the confidence to reach their goals. The activities and assessments are also designed to help develop relevant research and academic writing skills.

Training Course Content

This training course is divided into 5 manageable units:

Unit 1: Understanding end of life care

This unit covers the different attitudes and emotive issues surrounding death and dying as well as the current approaches to end of life care and the support services available.

Unit 2: Communication during end of life care

Learners will look at the different communication skills within end of life care, potential barriers to communication and how to overcome these.

Unit 3: Assessment and care planning in end of life care

This unit explores the holistic approach and the person-centred approach to assessment and care planning.

Unit 4: Person-centred approaches to end of life care

Learners will explore the person-centred approach to end of life care by looking at how to support the psychological, social, spiritual, religious, cultural and emotional needs of an individual.

Unit 5: Care during the final hours of life and bereavement care

This unit covers: the approach to death and the final hours of care, the process of grief and loss, how to support people following bereavement and how to deal with your own feelings of grief.



This course costs £369, which includes all of the learning resources and materials needed to complete it.

This course can also be paid in four monthly instalments

This course is also eligible for Advanced Learning Loan funding, meaning learners do not have to pay upfront for this course, learners only start to repay the loan once they are earning over £21,000.
