Safeguarding Children Level 1

This course is suitable for anyone who wants to protect the welfare of children, and also beneficial for public sector workers such as teachers, nurses, child-minders, or youth workers who would like to familiarise with the basic principles of safeguarding. Knowing how to safeguard the lives of young people is an invaluable skill to have that could even help to save a child’s life.

This Safeguarding Children Level 1 Training Course covers every essential topic you’re professionally required to know; from recognising signs of physical and mental abuse, to knowing how and when to report an incident. You’ll also learn how to react to disclosed information and record any concerns in a professional and correct manner.

By the end of this introductory level course, you’ll have the confidence to know how to protect children placed under your care to the best of your professional ability, and will have the confidence to report any concerns you may have if you suspect a child is showing signs of neglect or abuse.

Suitability - Who should attend?

The people playing roles and responsibility in terms of safeguarding children are the target audience of this course. Learn how to deal the safeguard issues and potential threats in protection of the children and their concerned families by taking Safeguarding Children Level 1 with us. In most of the care centre and social organizations taking safeguarding, course is compulsory. That is why you need a better and comprehensive module to understand your duties properly. This course is sn introductory course and to enrol in it you do not need any prior knowledge on the subject. Teachers, nursery workers, carers, child-minders. youth workers, activity leaders, doctors, nurses, paramedics, health workers. And other related professionals can benefit from the program.

Introduction to Safeguarding children

Introduction, course aim, topics to be covered, defining safeguarding, statistics, Victoria Climbie, Peter Connolly, who has responsibilities, what the law says, your responsibilities.

Signs of Abuse

Recognising, child abuse statistics, NSPCC abuse statistics, definition of child abuse, four categories of child abuse, physical emotional and sexual abuse, abuse by neglect, other kind of abuse, every child is different, child development, vulnerable children, example story, potential signs of abuse, indicators of neglect, another story as an example, indicators of abuse, indicators of emotional abuse, indicators sexual abuse, examples of indicators of sexual abuse, indicators of physical abuse, physical injuries and indicators of abuse.

Disclosure and Response

How to respond to a disclosure, being alerted about a concern, disclosures from children, how not to respond, an example, what not to do, why some children won't disclose abuse, why some adults will not act on a disclosure, the results of not taking action.

Your Concerns and Reporting

What to do if you have concerns, how to report concerns about abuse, your responsibilities, how to report your concerns, the designated safeguarding person (DSP), what you can do if a report isn't taken seriously, what if your concerns regard a professional, when you should report a concern, what you need to report, check records, story, clearly nathan is being abused and you must make a report, whether to talk to the child's parents, sometimes talking to the parents can help, the report and referral process, unhappy with this resolution.
