Level 2 Understanding Domestic Abuse

This qualification is designed to increase learners awareness and understanding of domestic abuse and its impact. The need for education and training across sectors to enable identification of abuse allocation of support and referral is a recurring theme within regional domestic abuse strategies. Awareness of domestic abuse and its impact is important for those working in a wide range of sectors such as healthcare social care childcare education and housing. There is a need to understand the issues report on those who may be at risk and support signposting to relevant services. This qualification is intended to give learners knowledge to support their role in this context.

Suitability - Who should attend?

In order to undertake this course you must have English at Level 2. You will need to know how to use an elctrical devise such as a computer, laptop or tablet due to the delivery of the course being all on line. An interview will be required.

Increase learners’ awareness and understanding of domestic abuse and its impactSupport those in the workplace who may work with, support, or interact with people at risk of, or experiencing, domestic abuse.

Training Course Content

Unit 01 Understand domestic abuseUnit 02 Understand the signs and risk factors associated with domestic abuseUnit 03 Understand the impact of domestic abuseUnit 04 Understand policy, response, and intervention in relation to domestic abuse.


The course is free if you meet the eligibility criteria. You must be a UK resident or have lived in the UK for 3 years or more and be aged 19 before 1st August 2020. You will need internet access so that you can respond to email and a digital device that will enable you to type your answers into a web-based platform.

On top of the stardard residency/citizenship eligibility, they must also live in England but outside of the Greater London Authority or the combined authorities of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Greater Manchester, Liverpool City Region, Tees Valley, West of England, West Midlands, North of Tyne, Sheffield City Region, or West Yorkshire.

Continuing Studies

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health Level 3 Award in Counselling Skills and Theory Level 3 Award in Skills for Workplace Health Champions Level 3 Award in STEPS Towards Suicide Reduction Level 3 Award in Health and Social Care Level 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care.
